Levels of EV charging
There are three levels of EV charging: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. The higher the level of charging, the faster the charging process, as more power is delivered to the vehicle. Check the difference between EV charging levels below.

Level 1
All plug-in vehicles come with a Level 1 charging cord that you can plug directly into a standard household 120-volt outlet. Charging takes longer at this level-typically giving you about 5 miles of range per hour of charging but it's enough for many daily drives.

Level 2
Level 2 charging is the most commonly used level for daily EV charging. Level 2 charging equipment can be installed at home, at the workplace, train stations and other destinations. Level 2 charging can replenish between 12 and 80 miles of range per hour, depending on the power output of the Level 2 charger, and the vehicle’s maximum charge rate.

Level 3
Level 3 is the fastest type of charging available and can recharge an EV at a rate of 3 to 20 miles of range per minute. As the power output needed for Level 3 charging is a lot higher than it is for Level 2 charging stations, Level 3 chargers are much faster than Level 1 and Level 2 charging stations. Some Level 3 stations provide up to 350 kW of power, and by doing so, can charge an EV in about 15 minutes.
